About the Author



Gwen Bohnenkamp has been providing behavior consultation and training services since 1985. She instructed the first university level course in Applied Animal Behavior at San Francisco State University. Gwen established and directed the largest and most comprehensive animal behavior correction program in the United States at the San Francisco SPCA. Her program served as a model for humane organizations throughout the US. Gwen also owned and operated Perfect Paws, Inc. in San Francisco and was vice-president of the Center for Applied Animal Behavior in Berkeley, CA.

As an educator and public speaker, Gwen has lectured and provided training seminars for dozens of organizations including: The Commonwealth Club of California, the San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association, The California Veterinary Medical Association, Northern California Animal Control Directors Association, APDT- Association for Pet Dog Trainers, Western World Pet Supply Association, the US Postal Service, Pacific Bell Telephone Company, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and Humane Societies across the US as well as specialty, civic and professional organizations. Gwen has served as an expert witness on canine behavior for the California Superior Court as well as numerous City and County Animal Control Agencies.

Gwen has appeared in People Magazine, TV Guide, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, Evening Magazine, Mac and Mutley, Pet Calls, Pet Pourri and numerous local, national, network and public radio, TV, magazines and newspapers. For over 8 years Gwen appeared on KGO radio, northern California's largest and most popular news-talk radio program.

Gwen Bohnenkamp is the author of Manners for the Modern Dog, From the Cat's Point of View and Help! My Dog Has an Attitude. Her book From the Cat's Point of View has been translated into Japanese and German.
